Latest podcast: New Market battlefield

A free audio podcast tour of the New Market battlefield is the 17th podcast at CivilWarTraveler.com/audio.

Fought in Virginia's beautiful Shenandoah Valley, the May 15, 1864, Battle of New Market won lasting fame for 257 Virginia Military Institute cadets, who helped a pick-up group of Confederates turn back a Union offensive. New Market Battlefield State Historical Park director Scott Harris narrates this nine-stop walking tour.

Posted May 9, the new podcast is just in time for those planning to attend the annual reenactment on the historic battlefield May 15-17 this year.

"Scott brings an intimate knowledge of the battlefield and a gift for storytelling to this tour," says Don Pierce, CivilWarTraveler.com editor. "He brings this dramatic story to life."
